An event entitled "Ioannina: In The Court of Ali Pasha- Childe Harold Reconsidered" was held before a packed house on January 19 at the 3 West Club in New Yorkby the EMBCA (East Mediterranean Business Culture Alliance).
The program started with a musical introduction featuring the Epirus solo clarinet playing of Kostas Skerpetos and EMBCA's President Louis Katsos spoke on Ali Pasha, the Souliotes and the start of the Hellenic Revolution and then introduced the main speakers of the program starting with Dr. Elektra Kostopoulou from Rutgers and finally with Dr. Katherine Elizabeth Fleming of NYU. Both made brilliant presentations on the topic relating to Balkan and East Mediterranean history. Prof. Fleming is one of the foremost authorities in the world on Ali (among many other things).
