Row over the cancellation of Theodorakis tribute concert
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Thecancellation of the concert in honor of Mikis Theodorakis, in the castle of Antirrio, with Peggy Zina and Aki Diximos, which was scheduled for Sunday, August 30, caused the anger of the daughter of the 92-year-old music composer.
The cause was the complaint of the Deputy Mayor of Nafpaktia, Andreas Kotsanas, to all the services, which caused the reaction of the Fire Brigade, which in turn requested a fire safety study for the area, which allegedly did not exist ...
As Margarita Theodorakis says on Facebook, the municipality of Nafpaktia "managed" in this way something that only the Junta, more than 40 years ago, had been able to do: "forbid her father's songs".
The "Mikis Theodorakis" folk orchestra also issued a tough announcement stating that "this hindering refers historically to persons with military uniforms, trenchcoats, and disturbed consciences."
On its part, the municipality of Nafpaktia, through the deputy mayor for culture, Yannis Raptis, described as "disrespect for the involvement of the great composer" by an independent orchestra, in "issues and matters that do not concern artistic endeavors".
