Terna Energy: Commercial operation of Texas wind farm

The completion of the "Fluvanna I" wind farm in Scurry County, Texas, which is now in commercial operation, was announced by Terna Energy, a member of the GEK TERNA Group.

According to the announcement, its construction began in December 2016 and was completed within a timeframe of less than 12 months.

Fluvanna I has a total output of 155.4 MW and consists of 74 wind turbines (Siemens / Gamesa). The annual electricity generated corresponds to meeting the energy needs of more than 46,000 households.

It is noted that for the financing of the investment, Terna Energy has cooperated with the Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), as well as with a group of banks.

The total cost of the investment tops $ 250 million.

With the operation of the new wind farm, the total installed capacity of the Terna Energy Group in the US is 293 MW. Te company also operates another 138 MW wind farm in the US, in Elmore County, Idaho, and promotes other investments in the US RES market.

The total installed capacity of the Group now stands at 941 MW. The Group, apart from the US, has installed 516 MW in Greece, 102 MW in Poland and 30 MW in Bulgaria. At the same time, the Group has 208 MW of RES or 208 MW of RES-E facilities in Greece and abroad.

In total, the company operates, is building or has fully licensed 1,149 MW of RES plants in Europe and America. The company's goal is to reach 2,000 MW of RES projects in operation in all the countries it is active in.
