What the coroner gleamed from a cursory examination of Katsifas' corpse
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
After initially refusing the examination of the body of Konstantinos Katsifas by a Greek coroner, the Albanian authorities eventually accepted the request.
However, Theodoros Vougiouklakis, the Greek coroner, was allowed to see Katsifa's body just for 5 minutes. Essentially, they let him just take a look and not rxamine the corpse.
From the visual examination, Mr. Vougiouklakis found that the wounds from the bullets had been stitched and that the body ha been washed, meaning that any clues and data had disappeared.
However, he found that the bullets that Katsifas had received were not from point blank but from a distance of 25 meters.
This overturns the scenario that was leaked from some that Konstantinos Katsifas was initially injured and then received a deliberate shot from a close distance.
However, they say this does not allay allegations that the Albanians wanted the 35-year-old dead, because his body has no other trauma to prove that they tried to stop him by shooting at his feet or elsewhere on his body .
The two shots in the heart indicate an intention to kill, says the family, pointing out that it was at a point without special cover, and that the specially trained RENEA team could easily have immobilized him.
