US Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Elizabeth Neumann completed her four-day visit to Greece, as part of the preparations for the opening of the US-Greece Strategic Dialogue next month and continued co-operation in the areas of law enforcement and counter-terrorism.

In a statement, the US Embassy in Athens notes that in all her meetings, both in Athens and in Chios, the assistant secretary stressed that her visit would provide an important basis for the discussions to be held during the US Strategic Dialogue -Greece on December 13th.

"We are pleased with the strong cooperation of Greece through the Visa Waiver Program, as well as with the efforts to deepen our cooperation in the fight against terrorism and security, including border security and exchange of information. We share the challenges we all face with the immigration crisis and its impact on the Greek islands," said Elizabeth Neumann, on the completion of her visit to our country.

In particular,  during her visit, Elizabeth Neumann met with Citizen Protection Minister Olga Gerovassilis, Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos, representatives of New Democracy, think tank members and other officials.

She then went to Chios where she met with Mayor Manolis Vournous and representatives of the Hellenic Police, the Greek Coast Guard and FRONTEX and visited the immigration reception center.
