Police prepare for anniversary of Grigoropoulos killing

Ten years have passed since Alexandros Grigoropoulos's killing by a police officer, in Exarhia, on this day, and as every year on 6 December, there will be gatherings and memorial events.
The security measures to be implemented will be draconian, and there will be increased police forces in police stations and government buildings and agencies.
Measures to be taken in the wider area of the center of Athens will involve more than 2,600 police officers.
Rallies and courses
At 12 noon, high school and university students will gather at the Athens University Propylaea.
The samepoint, will be used for the assembly of the evening rally scheduled for 17:30 for the rally expected to start at 18:00
For 21:00, a gathering is scheduled at the point where Alexander Grigoropoulos waskilled.
At 12:00 and at 18:00, gatherings and marches will take place in Thessaloniki starting from Kamara.
Afternoon at 18:00, there will be demonstrations in Patras, Larissa, Komotini, Chania, Ioannina, Mytilene.
Draconian safety measures
Measures similar to those of the Polytechnic demonstrations will be in force in the center of Athens today, with police officers in the center of the city exceeding 2,600.
Also, many "plainclothes" police officers will be in the wider area of Exarchia and the Polytechnic, in order to observe movements of people outside buildings that are occupied by squatters.
At the same time, flights over the center of Athens will be carried out by the Police Helicopter and unmanned aircraft, which will present a "general image" of te city throughout the day.
Finally, the police water cannon vehicle, Ajax, which first appeared in the incidents of the Polytechnic, on November 17, will be again a short distance from Exarchia and will intervene, if necessary.
