Parrot invasion of Athens parks worries ornithologists

The numbers of these unusual, for the skies of Greece, birds have mutiplied so much that the Hellenic Ornithological Society carried out a Christmas operation in urban areas (in Athens, Thessaloniki and other urban areas) in the hope of learning the breadth of this "avian colonization".
in fact, it is a pan-European phenomenon that has created fears that the avian "invaders" can threaten local biodiversity. The European Commission is considering putting the item on a list of 'foreign-invasion' wildlife.
