Hospital manager appointed on false credentials
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A fake diploma was reportedly tendered by the manager of the General Hospital of Nicaea, according to a 29-page report by the Board of Inspectors of Public Administration Auditors.
As stated in the document in question, the manager is expected to be referred for the offense of dereliction of duty and has therefore been forwarded to the Athens Court of Appeal.
The person in question was appointed in August 2016 as manager of the General Hospital of Nikaia-Piraeus "Agios Panteleimon", as reported in the relevant publication of the Sunday edition of "Proto Thema". In the ministerial decision published in the Government Gazette on August 5, 2016 and signed by the Minister of Health, Andreas Xanthos, the manager is registered as a graduate of Economics from the National Kapodistrian University, aftodioikisi.gr reports.
But following complaints last September, he appeared in the Hellenic Public Register of Human Resources with a PhD in Organization and Management from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
According to a written response from the Ministry of Administrative Reconstruction, he himself made the initial introduction of his personal data in the registry and then made the submission subject to updating and confirming changing his details in the register.
As mentioned in the relevant publication, there was correspondence between the relevant government agencies, where it emerged that the equivalent of the doctoral degree of the manager had not been recognized, nor even tendered for such. There is, therefore, the question if it even exists.
