Samos: Tragedy with three migrants dead, including two children
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A man's body was found in the sea area east of Samos by a Hellenic Coast guard vessel, after the sinking of a boat carrying 12 immigrants, which resulted in the loss of two children.
According to the Coast Guard, one of its vessels identified and rescued 11 migrants at sea, including three children, while one person was missing. Two of the children during their transportation succumbed to the exposure to the elements. As immigrants told the coast Guard, a total of 12 people were onboard.
All rescued migrants were taken to Samos. The search at sea involved a Coast Guard ship and a smaller vessel, a FRONTEX ship, and a naval helicopter.
