The opposition MeRA25 (DiEM25) party has entered into an agreement to collaborate with the UK's Labour Party, MeRA25 announced on Monday.
"On Sunday 14th July, the Labour Party and DiEM25 leadership teams agreed to embark upon a common agenda for Europe and beyond. Later that day, the collaboration was announced at the closing plenary of the International Social Forum convened by the Labour Party at SOAS, London and opened by Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Labour Party," a party announcement said, adding that MeRA25 Secretary Yanis Varoufakis was then introduced by Labour shadow chancellor John McDonell to explain what this involved.
According to party sources, Corbyn and Varoufakis, as well as McDonnell who proposed the agreement to the forum, emphasied the importance of this collaboration "for a Europe and a world we deserve".
