State Department: Positive statement for US-Greece relations, with vagueness on energy

Τhe meeting of US Secretary of State Mike Pombeo with his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias was heralded as confirmation of the importance of Greek-American relations by the State Department.
According to the State Department's announcement, the two politicians have agreed to continue working to enhance the progress made in key areas of bilateral co-operation, the framework of which was set in the inaugural Greek-US Strategic Dialogue.
For his part, the head of US diplomacy stressed strong bilateral cooperation in the field of defense and security, noting Greece's role as a pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans.
Continuing, Mr Pompey welcomed the progress made by Greece in the implementation of energy projects that enhance the expansion of regional interconnectivity.
Finally, the two Ministers reaffirmed their joint commitment to promoting religious freedoms and agreed to continue the progress made in key areas by the Strategic Dialogue in December 2018.
