Spectacular rescue of mariners from uncontrolled sailboat
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The rescue operation of the four passengers aboard an uncontrolable sail boat near Ios is simply awesome.
The image uploaded to social media with the unmanned boat is breathtaking. The sailboat is literally at the mercy of bad weather with the wind and waves hitting it.
Above the unmanned vessel is a helicopter and the rescue process of the 4 Greek occupants is ongoing. There is also a cargo ship near the boat.
An alarm was sounded at the port in the morning when it became known that the sailboat was sailing uncontrollably due to a mechanical breakdown and a sail break in the area southeast of Agios Georgios in the Saronic Gulf, where winds of 8 to 9 beaufort are blowing.
