Extensive incidents between detainees occurred in the Avlona prison.
The clash took place between groups of foreign and Greek inmates and according to AMNA there were nine injured, two of them in serious condition. Police forces, riot police, and prison guards rushed to the prison.
According to first reports by the Athens-Macedonian News Agency from police sources, clashes took place between Afghan, Albanian and Greek detainees for an unknown cause. The incidents ended after the men from the Criminal Task Force intervened and the prison was calmed down. The prisoners have returned to their cells. Prison guard forces also moved from Athens, but did not have to intervene. It is noted, however, that in the morning a search had been carried out in cells, which had caused irritation to the young prisoners.
EKAB ambulances with a doctor arrived at the Avlona prisons to provide first aid to the wounded, while some were transferred to hospitals.
