Passenger traffic in mass transit has fallen dramatically in recent days, and according to official OASA data yesterday, it is at around 10%, a 90% decrease (on average) in metros, trams and buses, said Transport Minister Costas Karamanlis. but that does not mean, he added, that there are no routes being serviced.
"On city buses at rush hour, that is, from 06.00 am to 10:00 am and from 15:00 pm to 18:00 pm, there is no reduction. Where we have made a reduction, for buses, they are at non-peak times,” the minister explained to SKAI.
He also said that the trains maintain a pair of locomotives from and to Athens - Thessaloniki and two pairs to and from Thessaloniki - Larissa, and that in the Athens suburban railway, which is used by many citizens to get to work, there are six pairs to the routes Athens-Chalkida, Piraeus - Airport and Piraeus - Kiato.
