The city of Athens could attract more than one million tourists annually after completion of an investment project in Hellinikon, according to Lamda Development's CEO.
Addressing a Global Forum in Athens, Odysseas Athanassiou said the project will create around 15,000 job positions during its investment period, while completion of the project will create 50,000 direct and indirect job positions.
Tax revenues for the state will surpass two billion euros annually, while total direct investments from the exploitation of the area of the former international airport in Hellinikon will surpass 6.0 billion euros, Athanasiou added.
Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (TAIPED), a few days ago, announced it had approved the final plan of a contract for the sale of shares in the exploitation of Hellinikon SA. The tender procedure is expected to be completed in the first quarter of the year.
The Hellinikon project is the largest real estate investment project worldwide, as the property is more than three times larger than the size of Monaco, more than two times the size of Hyde Park in London and almost two times the size of central part in New York.
