Featured PM Mitsotakis: Primary sector a key lever for the country's reconstruction and growth

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out the importance of the agricultural economy as a key lever for economic growth but also the importance of its modernisation, during his visit on Friday to a farm in Avlona, Attica for the launch of the operation of an advanced e-service, greekfarms.gov.gr.

The specific digital service is directed at farmers, helping to simplify time-consuming procedures and facilitating cooperation but also farmers' economic-trade activity.

During his visit to a model farm production unit, the prime minister talked with producers and workers and praised the farming sector's contribution to growth.

Accompanied by Rural Development and Food Minister Makis Voridis and Deputy Agriculture Minister Costas Skrekas, Mitsotakis visited a farm owned by Christos Zagaris, who was proclaimed farmer of the year in 2019 by the farming newspaper Agrenda.

The prime minister noted that the primary sector, in combination with the processing of farming products, is emerging as one of the levers of growth and of the reconstruction of production in the country.

He also announced the support of the sector with, initially 150 million euros, adding that he will support producers in the future so they are able to cope with the repercussions in the wake of the global pandemic.
