Fake doctor charged with three murders

Featured Fake doctor charged with three murders

The relatives of the victims of the fake doctor, who was getting rich by deceiving people who believed that he could cure them of diseases, are furious.

The "doctor", who was circulating under the name "Nikos Kontos", is said to be responsible for the deaths of three people: a 76-year-old man and two children aged 14 and 16, from Serres and Kos respectively. In all, at least 45 people were reportedly deceived.

Victim's father: He said he worked at the Schumacher clinic
The father of one of the two children described in the Open TV news bulletin how they met the 47-year-old, but also how many lies he told them, making them believe that he could cure them. "It simply came to our notice then. From there the acquaintance took place. The truth is that we believed him. First, he was replete with significant studies from America, New York. He also has a Linkedin profile, "he said.

"He told us he was in the clinic where Schumacher was treated after his accident. He also treated great personalities of the country who went there for health reasons and for various treatments. I was not looking for an alternative treatment. We had our doctors. He introduced himself to us as a doctor. He told us that he is a pediatrician and that he has the specialty of pediatric neurosurgeon, pediatric oncologist, who has dealt with the issue. He also told us that the treatment is a step before it is approved by the World Medicines Agency," he added.

A victim's father later claimed that the pseudo-doctor said he needed to change treatment.

"He changed therapy.  The treatment the child was receiving, he told us that it is useless and he should take his, with various preparations and he promised us a complete cure ", added the victim's father. "It simply came to our notice then. The preparations were from Switzerland. They came from there. Our meetings took place in large diagnostic centers in Athens. We made an appointment to do CAT scans. Other doctors called for him and when they talked to their colleagues they said that there was no one else like him ", he continued.

The "doctor" was fishing victims from monasteries - He also deceived doctors
As it turns out, the accused "fished" for his victims in churches and monasteries. He appeared as a man of the church and promised treatment with various "methods". Apparently, he was so convincing that he even convinced doctors that he was their colleague. However, a mistake revealed his fraud.

The mistake of the "doctor" who betrayed him
The whole scam was revealed when a doctor went with him for an operation. The doctor who was with him in the operating room noticed that he did not know how to sterilize his hands and this seems to have raised suspicions. The "doctor" had created a well-based fraud, lived in a "fortress" house, having made a lot of money by deceiving his victims.
He even had his wife as an accomplice, who was presented as the offspring of a well-known shipping family.

However, when everything was revealed, he was arrested and after receiving a deadline, he will appear before the prosecutor on Monday.

He has been charged with aggravated manslaughter, drug trafficking, medical malpractice and fraud for five years!
