Rise in covid cases brings epidemiologist Tsiodras to the fore
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, in charge of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias and the representative of the Ministry of Health for the coronavirus, Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, will inform about the developments in a press conference that will be given at 18:00.
The reappearance of Sotiris Tsiodras
After more than two months, when the daily update on the coronavirus by Sotiris Tsiodras stopped (May 26 was the last), the worrying data with the increase of the virus cases seems to have led to the reappearance of the infectious disease specialist.
Besides, just yesterday the government spokesman during the briefing of the political reporters categorically denied the rumors, after reports, that the infectious disease specialist Sotiris Tsiodras has a difference of opinion with the government on the issue of dealing with the coronavirus and therefore has withdrawn from the of publicity.
Mr. Petsas stressed that Sotiris Tsiodras has not quit and there is no such issue. He even stressed that he remains the head of the team of experts and regularly participates in meetings under the Prime Minister, three times a week, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
It should be noted that throughout the previous period, imaginative publications and posts on social media, mainly from the SYRIZA area, brought the well-known infectious disease specialist to distance himself from the information about the coronavirus. Some said that Mr. Tsiodras accepted a proposal to join the government, in the conceived reshuffle, but he refused, however the scenario is not correct.
