Kyriakos Pierrakakis expressed his assessment that Greece will have 5G at the beginning of 2021.
Speaking on Thema 104.6, the Minister of Digital Government stressed that the bill recently passed in Parliament created an investment fund that will invest in companies that use 5G.
At the same time, Kyriakos Pierrakakis noted that very soon there will be new services in e-government, citing as an example the possibility that banks will be able within a month to "pull", with consen,t data, such as the tax clearance.
Pierrakakis: Microsoft's investment is important
Asked to comment on yesterday's announcements concerning Microsoft's investment in Greece, Mr. Pierrakakis said that the data center that was announced is the 8th in Europe. "We have informally competed with the other countries in the region as this infrastructure concerns the wider region," he added.
"These companies assess the political risk of the country and its perspective. "When they choose the country, it means something to us." "The second part has the same nature of the investment. "Storing data from other countries here, informally, also has a geopolitical implication," he added.
Finally, Mr. Pierrakakis clarified that the area in which the data centers will be installed in Attica "To use sports terms, it is more than 10 stadiums, 100 hectares each".
