Featured Frame by frame, Turkish coastguard harasses Coast Guard boat - Immigrants pushed to Greece

On Friday morning, in the sea area northeast of the island of Lesvos, a Turkish coastguard vessel entered Greek territorial waters and harassed a Hellenic Coast Guard patrol boat, carrying out dangerous maneuvers.

At the same time, in a second incident in the same sea area, in the early morning hours, a dinghy with foreign passengers tried to enter Greek territorial waters accompanied by a Turkish coastguard vessel, which was located by an Offshore Ship of the Hellenic Coast Guard-Greek.

Repeated attempts were made by the Offshore Ship of the Hellenic Coast Guard with the Turkish coastguard, in order to pick up the occupants of the boat, with negative results. The boat with the foreigners did not enter the Greek territorial waters at all and the passengers were finally collected by another Turkish coastguard vessel, while the former had already left the said sea area.

Also, in the early morning hours today, in the same sea area and in Turkish territorial waters near the border, another boat of the Hellenic Coast Guard, located a dinghy with a number of foreign passengers.

The above boat was approached by two Turkish coastguard vessels, who tried to push it into Greek territorial waters, unsuccessfully. Eventually, the passengers of the boat were collected by the Turkish coastguard, following repeated calls from the crew of the Greek vessel. It is noted that in this case, too, the boat with the foreigners did not enter Greek territorial waters.
