Greek cuisine seems to have fans all over the world. That is why it was ranked second in the annual Taste Atlas list,

Italian cuisine came first once again, according to the English website TasteAtlas, a digital culinary encyclopedia that records traditional dishes, local food and wine products and restaurants around the world.

By averaging the votes given by users who tried the dishes and the shops listed on the website, TasteAtlas managed to determine the most popular cuisines worldwide for 2022. And among 95 nations, Greek cuisine took second place. This is followed by Spanish, Japanese and Indian.

But what are the Greek recipes and products that were most appreciated abroad? Let's see in detail:

First and best, collecting 4.9 (with an excellent 5) comes Kalamata oil. This olive oil, according to the Taste Atlas, is closely linked to the history, traditions and culture of Messinia, where it is produced. The final product has a bright green to yellow-green color and a pleasant taste. It is slightly bitter and has notes of green fruits and a mild spicy taste.

Next are the pistachios of Aegina, the peaches of Naoussa, the saganaki and the dakos.

Of course, the website also pointed out the best restaurants where you can try Greek cuisine: At "Antikristo" in Chania for the best antikristo roast (also famous for apaki and greens), "Peskesi" in Heraklion (for hochlious burbouristous (snails), beetroot salad and dakos), "Loukoumades Ktistakis" in Athens, (of course, for loukumades), "Pitogyros" in Oia (for its gyro), "Araliki" in Kavala (for the souvlaki), but also "Bougatsazidiko Bandis" in Thessaloniki.
