Unprecedented images at Mykonos airport
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The image of the "Manto Mavrogenous" airport of Mykonos, in the heart of summer, is unprecedented.
The footage captured by the Mykonos Live TV camera of the empty outside arrivals area is typical. The traffic is minimal and there are no parked vehicles waiting for travelers.
Everyone agrees that this year's traffic on the island of the winds is down compared to last year, but what the Mykonos Live TV camera saw is unprecedented for the island's airport, especially in the middle of July.
Undoubtedly, one of the reasons for the lack of congestion at the airport - but not for the reduced passenger traffic - is the operation of controlled access points with tilting bars, through which all vehicles pass to disembark and pick up people.
The bars allow a 10-minute free stay, while for more time there is a charge of 1 euro per minute.
An entry card costs 124 euros, while a guarantee of 500 euros is required. However, the hoteliers of the island, due to the many crossings of the hotels' minivans on a 24-hour basis, complain about the "tolls".
