A 20-year-old man was keeping against their will a total of 13 foreign nationals, among them 6 minors, in an abandoned building in the area of Echedoros in Thessaloniki.
Police found and released the migrants that lacked travel documents and arrested the 20-year-old who also did not have documents for his legal stay in the country.
The perpetrator along with his partners demanded money from the undocumented migrants in order to release them.
A case file against the 20-year-old was formed accused of forming a criminal organisation, illegal restraint and hostage-taking, blackmail and transfer of migrants to the Greek mainland.
The suspect will be sent to the prosecutor while a manhunt has been launched for the location of the other individuals that are involved in the case.
