Greek National Security Council meets in the shadow of Israel - Hamas war

The Security Council assessed the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip, while during the meeting an assessment was made of possible effects on Greece and the wider region and the coordination of actions were discussed.

The Greek government, from the first moment of the hostilities that followed the attack by Hamas, sided with Israel.

Yesterday, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, coming to the NATO headquarters in Brussels for the Defense Ministers' Summit, said that "Greece has clearly stood by the State of Israel in this tragic circumstance" while he called on the countries of the alliance to talk about their position on the issue of Israel.

Furthermore, the Minister of Defense stated that "all the countries of our Alliance must do this. NATO is an alliance of values, it is not only a defense alliance." As he pointed out, "the barbaric attack by Hamas insulted exactly these values".
