Two Greek Women in Lloyd’s 2023 ‘Top 10 in Ship Finance’

It is the second year in a row that Christina Margelou was included in Lloyd’s top 10 List of bankers, a distinction based on her competence in managing the bank’s portfolio as banking is set to play a pivotal role in the transition to green energy in the maritime sector.

Lloyd’s List underscores Margelou’s high-ranking evaluation, acknowledging her instrumental role in navigating the complexities of the current era, marked by the maritime sector’s shift towards sustainability. The recognition reflects Margelou’s strategic vision and contributions in aligning financial initiatives with the green transformation anticipated in shipping.

The bank has been a significant financial contributor to the Greek shipping industry, providing funding for bulk carriers, tankers, and container ships. The scope of support extends to a lesser extent to vessels transporting natural gas. This financing has been facilitated through the bank’s offices in Athens, as well as its branches in Cyprus and Luxembourg.

Marina Hadjipateras, the co-founder, along with Soraya Darabi of TMV, a company involved in early-stage venture capital, focused on supply chain, logistics, maritime, sustainability, future of work and care, served as the vice-president in Investor Relations at Dorian LPG, her family shipping company.

Hadjipateras played a pivotal role in Dorian LPG’s listing on the stock exchange in 2014. She has also held the position of Vice President of the Environmental Committee at Interanko for over a decade and serves as a mentor at Endeavor, a global community of entrepreneurs aiming to build ecosystems in emerging and underserved markets worldwide.
