Development without exclusions: Zacharaki asserts from Brussels the importance of a strong welfare state
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Sofia Zacharaki expressed her conviction that cohesion and competitiveness are complementary objectives for the European Union, which must ensure that no European citizen is left behind. She conveyed this sentiment alongside Finance Minister Kostas Hadzidakis during the joint meeting of EU Finance, Labour, and Social Affairs Ministers.
Zacharaki conveyed her satisfaction with her presence in Brussels at the joint Ecofin and Epsco ministerial meeting which addressed social investments, social convergence, reforms and macroeconomic stabilization.
During her intervention, the Greek minister discussed the programs and initiatives undertaken by the Greek government, with a focus on prioritizing the employment of women, vulnerable groups, and individuals with disabilities. Sofia Zacharaki emphasized, among other things, that strengthening employment is a key pillar of Greece's National Action Plan for Demographics.
