Α total of 14,000 animals have been killed due to the plague of small ruminants, Rural Development and Food Minister Kostas Tsiaras said on Wednesday in an interview with "SKAI" radio station.
In Romania, which was affected ten days after Greece, the deaths of animals exceed 200,000, the minister noted.
Tsiaras requested a more responsible attitude from the main opposition and the cooperation of all those involved, so that the plague of small ruminants can be eradicated.
At the same time, he praised the work being done in Greece, which was characterized by the European Commission as a model country for other countries in the process of dealing with the disease.
Regarding the origin of the disease, he noted that responsibility and seriousness are required and recommended that we wait for the results of the official epidemiological investigation.
