PASOK heads to polls today for new leader
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
PASOK is looking for a new leader as party members are heading to polls throughout Greece and abroad. The 6 candidates for the leadership of the party have thrown themselves for weeks into the fray to garner the votes of members and friends for the election of a new president of PASOK, giving keynote speeches, ahead of Sunday's showdown.
Nikos Androulakis, Haris Doukas, Pavlos Geroulanos, Anna Diamantopoulou, Nadia Giannakopoulou and Michalis Katrinis are attempting to reach out to PASOK's electoral base in order to ensure their qualification to the second round of elections, with each having their own vision for reconstruction and the future of the Movement.
According to the opinion polls, no candidate seems to secure an absolute majority from the first Sunday.
Polls show that the most likely duo to make it to the second round of the elections are Nikos Androulakis and Haris Doukas. However, Pavlos Geroulanos and Anna Diamantopoulou are very close, and do not allow any safe prediction.
A few days before Sunday's intra-party showdown, the 6 PASOK presidential candidates are raising their voices, while the gladiators' staffs are adjusting their strategy, in order to bring as many voters as possible to the polls.
