Commander-in-Chief Prokopios Charitos has been appointed as the commander at sea of Operation Irini

On October 4, the ceremony for the handover of duties of the Commander at Sea (COM FHQ) of Operation IRINI took place at the naval base in Taranto, Italy. Italian Rear Admiral Armando Simi officially transferred command to Greek Commander Prokopios Haritos PN, with the presence of Rear Admiral Valentino Rinaldi, the Italian Commander of Operation IRINI.
According to the General Staff of the Navy, Commander Prokopios Haritos PN will serve in this role for the next six months. His headquarters ship will be the frigate “Lemnos,” supported by the Onboard Headquarters (FHQ) of the operation, which includes personnel from Greece.
