Former PASOK minister Vasso Papandreou has died at the age of 80 after serious health problems.

According to information, she died this morning at her home.

For the last three years, the former minister and commissioner had been suffering from an incurable disease with a rare syndrome.

Vasso Papandreou's funeral is expected to take place on Saturday, however, the location has not yet been announced by the family. That is, whether it will take place in Chalandri where she lived or in her place of origin, Aigio.

Who was Vasso Papandreou
Vasso Papandreou was born in Valimitika, Aigio, on December 9, 1944.

She studied Economics at the then ASOEE and continued in England where she received a master's degree from the University of London and a doctorate from the University of Reading. She taught at the University of Exeter in Great Britain and at the Athens University of Economics.

He was a founding member of PA.S.O.K. He was elected Member of Parliament with PA.S.O.K. in the 1985 elections. He was then elected Member of Parliament for the Second District of Athens in the 1993, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2007, and 2009 elections. In 2012 he was removed from the Parliamentary Group.

He served as Minister of Development (1996-1999), Minister of the Interior (1999-2001) and Minister of the Environment (2001-2004). He was the first female Commissioner of Greece in the then EEC. She has also been Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Parliament (2009-2012).
