A high speed chase that started from Zefyri and ended on the national highway took place after midnight.
According to initial information, a Roma man who was driving his car in Zefyri, at the intersection of Liosion and Mornou streets, did not obey a police signal that called him to stop for a check and accelerated, resulting in a chase.
Eventually, the man lost control on the highway, collided with a truck near Nea Filadelfeia and was immobilized.
The driver of the vehicle was extricated after firefighters used a rescue mechanism and was transported by EKAB ambulance to the KAT hospital with serious injuries, where he later succumbed to wounds.
It is noted that due to the traffic accident, the uphill section of the National Highway to Lamia remained closed (near Nea Filadelfeia) for more than an hour.
