Wild fisticuffs among publishers at George Tsunis farewell dinner – Shocked businessmen, ministers and performers
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A wild fight broke out on the evening of Monday, January 13, 2025, at the party that former US ambassador to Athens George Tsunis threw for his friends in Greece at the well-known Nisiotissa fish tavern in the north of Athens.
The incident took place between publishers and spread to the surrounding tables, essentially creating an unimaginable fight that had everyone running left and right.
It all started when publisher M.T. a.k.a. Tarzan, glanced sideways at H.R. and G.K., both editors of well-known websites, and one said to the other, “What are you looking at, you (expletive)?”, “What do you want, a beating?”.
Then the 3 men got into a fight, while chairs were falling and plates were being thrown.
The two editor friends threw the first editor down and kicked him, before henchmen and police escorts finally came in and separated them.
In the incredible tavern, ministers such as Kostís Hatzidakis with his wife, Christos Staikouras, Niki Kerameus, Kostas Skrekas, BoG Governor Yiannis Stournaras, as well as representatives of business and shipowners such as Copelouzos, Melissanidis, Prokopiou, Tsakos and others were present.
Everyone was stunned by the development of the evening, while George Tsunis' embarrassment was also evident.
The two singers at the event who came to sing at Tsounis' farewell dinner, Kostas Argyros and Antonis Remos, were also stunned.
This is a disgrace for Greek journalism, but also a disgrace for the political system that tolerates it.
