Ankara’s provocative stance – It sent the corvette north of Crete “where Turkey has interests”
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
During the regular briefing of journalists, Turkish Defense Ministry sources admitted that Ankara sent the corvette north of Crete, where the two Italian research vessels were conducting surveys in international waters for the laying of the Cyprus-Crete electrical interconnection cable, because, they said, “Turkey has interests there.”
The Turkish corvette was monitoring the operations from a distance of 10 nautical miles and was harassed by radio, stating that the area is not under Greek jurisdiction.
