The legendary submarine "Proteus II" has landed forever!
One of the most historic submarines of the Hellenic Navy, the Proteus II, now occupies its permanent place in the Maritime Heritage Park at Trocadero.
After 53 years of service, the submarine that was launched in the German shipyards of Kiel now stands next to the iconic battleship "Averof", continuing to be a symbol of our naval heritage.
The historic submarine "Proteys" will operate as the first underwater museum in Greece, integrated into the Maritime Tradition Park.
The submarine Proteus II S-113 was a type 209/1100. It was one of four advanced conventional submarines of the Hellenic Navy ordered by the Greek government in November 1967 at the HDW shipyards in Kiel, then West Germany. It was launched on 1 February 1972. The Greek flag was raised on 22 November 1972. On 27 November 1972 it was received in Kiel and sailed to Greece on 16 March 1973. It had a height (without masts) of 11.38 meters. The following are of the same type: Glafkos III, Nireus II and Triton II
