Mitsotakis and Netanyahu meet in Jerusalem for the electricity interconnection
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
At a critical geopolitical juncture, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to visit Israel, most likely next Monday, something that is not so common lately for Western leaders. He will meet with Netanyahu in Jerusalem, with the visit reportedly “locked in” to the Israeli foreign minister’s recent visit to Athens.
It is obvious that Greece also wants at the highest level to ensure the participation of the Israelis in the electric interconnection project, in order to provide maximum security against Turkish provocations, given that there seems to be no corridor for a consensual settlement of the outstanding issues, especially now that the Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting is going even further back.
Also on the meeting’s “menu” will be hydrocarbon exploration and the two countries’ strategic alliance in general, against Turkey’s greater influence on Washington.
