A 38-year-old Turkish businessman was arrested on his luxury yacht in Mykonos, following a complaint from his wife.

Greek Coast Guard officers boarded the boat that was moving in the area and handcuffed him after his 42-year-old wife reported him for beating her.

During his arrest, authorities discovered that he was wanted as a fugitive by Turkish authorities, as an International Red Notice has been issued against him since February 2025.

The businessman in question had been sentenced by a court in Izmir to 15 years in prison for the crimes of robbery and slander.

The beating incident occurred on June 4, when, according to his wife's complaint, the 38-year-old attacked and beat her.

Pursuit at sea
The Greek Coast Guard officers located the yacht with a British flag in Platis Gialos. His wife was located on the boat and suffered facial injuries.

The businessman tried to escape, developing speed with his boat, to follow a sea chase. He temporarily succeeded, but the next day at noon, the officers of the Mykonos Port Authority arrested him as part of the on-the-spot procedure.

A case of domestic violence has been filed against him and he is being held in the custody of the Syros police station until he is brought before the prosecution authorities.

The 42-year-old was transferred to the Mykonos Health Center, where she was provided with first aid, while she was informed about the sanctuaries that exist for female victims of domestic violence, without wishing to be transferred to one, as she would return to Turkey. The 38-year-old denies the accusation.
