Greeks repatriated from Israel through Egypt
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The repatriation of 105 Greeks who were in Israel was safely completed, under the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Their journey began yesterday and ended at dawn, when they landed at the 112th Combat Wing of Eleusis. They were then transported by buses to the center of Athens. Among them were citizens of European and third countries.
Speaking about what the singer Giorgos Semos experienced, he described: "The operation was very difficult, as they told us at the consulate that they spoke to us. I have been in Israel for five months, I was going back and forth for work. The last four days have been hell. Constantly in shelters, sirens blaring 4-5 times a day. Things were difficult, we all experienced difficult situations.
The return was a bit difficult because in the middle of the road we heard sirens, we had to get off the bus, fall down as much as we could to protect ourselves because we were on the road, there was no room to go anywhere, there were no tunnels, no shelters. After 20 minutes we had to leave, we took a risk of course”.
Asked if there was a problem with the passports in Cairo, Mr. Semos replied: “I wouldn’t call it a problem, they just had to go through the check twice”, he added.
