TV chef arrested for hiding millions in income - not paying taxes

Authorities have arrested a well-known TV chef with a long television career and international distinctions for debts to the state. The 58-year-old is accused of concealing income totaling €1,341,000 over a three-year period and of failing to pay €375,000 in taxes.
On Friday morning (October 31), the chef was arrested and brought before the Athens Prosecutor’s Office for the execution of his sentence, facing even the prospect of prison if he does not promptly settle his financial obligations.
According to reports, the chef, who also owns a food trading business, concealed taxable income amounting to €1,341,000 from the tax authorities during the period 2018–2020, and between 2017 and 2020 failed to remit value-added tax (VAT) amounting to €375,000.
By order of the Athens Prosecutor’s Office, his arrest was carried out, as two warrants had been outstanding against him.
