Nephew and businessman to the prosecutor for the murder at the Finikounda campsite: How the authorities arrived at their arrest

Featured Nephew and businessman to the prosecutor for the murder at the Finikounda campsite: How the authorities arrived at their arrest

The two arrested men - a nephew and a businessman - were transferred to the prosecutor's office in the Evelpidon courts shortly before 10 am for the murder of Kostas Tomaras and his caretaker that took place in early October in Finikounda.

After the execution of the warrants, the defendants are expected to be brought before the investigating officer in Kalamata, who investigated the case and issued the warrants.

Another man, a friend of the businessman, is also being sought in the case, who is allegedly abroad on a vacation trip. The person in question is accused of complicity, while the first two are accused of incitement.

Up until now, both the victim's nephew and his businessman friend have denied their involvement in the case.

“He denies the charges, he is in a miserable psychological state,” said the lawyer of the 33-year-old nephew, Giannis Verras.

However (and contrary to their claims) the same individuals, in addition to the murder, are also allegedly involved - as moral instigators - in the attempted murder of the 68-year-old owner of the campsite that took place on September 7.

The arrest warrants against the three were issued after a thorough investigation by the investigator handling the case. Through statements from relatives and witnesses, the analysis of the victim’s wills, and the phone calls made before and after the crime, she managed to collect evidence that “showed” the involvement of these three individuals.

It is recalled that the businessman from Athens, in addition to being the employer of one of the two young men accused of shooting and killing the owner of the campsite and the caretaker, was also the person the nephew called immediately after the double murder.

As the nephew, who was also the only eyewitness, had testified, the first phone call he made through his partner was to the owner of the cafe in Kolonaki who was previously the employer of the 22-year-old alleged accomplice to the murder.

"To understand what my relationship is with G. (the defendant's former employer), after the attack he is the first person I asked my girlfriend to call and inform because I was in shock and could not speak. She called him from her cell phone because mine was at the scene of the murder," he had specifically stated in his testimony.
