Protests Banned During Merkel's Athenian Visit
German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to arrive in Athens this Friday.
A large security force will be posted in central Athens, to keep protests at bay. This method follows the previous one put in place, during Merkel's last October 2012 visit to Greece's capital.
However, numerous unions have organized a Klafthmonos Square demonstration at 5:00 p.m., which is located just outside the banned zone. SYRIZA has requested that peaceful protests are conducted by its supporters. Syntagma and Acropolis metro stations will be closed at 6:00 p.m. Evangelismos and Megaro Mousikis stations are set to close at 1:30 p.m.
The German Chancellor is anticipated to arrive at 2:30 p.m., at Athens International Airport. She will reside at the Athens Hilton Hotel and will participate in a young entrepreneurs' forum with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. The two premiers will hold additional discussions at Maximos Mansion at 5:30 p.m.
