Tinos Running Experience 2014

Most people know Tinos from the church of the Virgin Mary and the consequent religious tourism. But this beautiful Cycladic island, has rare beauty to offer. This beauty, will be experienced by all visitors of the island, through the Tinos Running Experience event. This is an initiative of the Commerce Professions & Crafts Association of Tinos, as well as of the Association of Professionals of Exomvourgo of Tinos. The event included running races and many more surprises that will take place 14 June with the cooperation of the All About Running company.

The goal of both associations is to establish this event on an annual basis, for the island, by attracting runners from all over Greece (and abroad in the near future). Both want to develop the concept and benefits of Sports Tourism which is a rather important concept for the island. Both associations work along with All About Running company and their manager Nikos Polias (multi-marathon winner) utilizing their great experience in major running events organizing (Athens Classical Marathon, Thessaloniki Alexander the Great Marathon, Run for Health race (20 & 10km), SDYA, Energizer Night Run, etc.

The official communication sponsor for the race is the only Greek magazine for running: RUNNER Magazine and of course their website: www.runnermagazine.gr.

The program for the races includes:

• TINOS EXPERIENCE: A 25km running race of Pirgos Tinos – Chora Tinos for long distance runners of all levels.

• TINOS FUN – RUN: A 5km running race of Chora Tinos – St. Fokas (Vrekastro) where both athletes and island visitors/habitats can participate.

• TINOS KIDS – RUN: A 1km running race of Tinos Harbour – Chora Tinos, for children.

Both associations (mentioned at the article), along with the help of those who want to offer volunteer work or support the event financially (supporters/sponsors), can participate in these processes:

• Promotions and advertising in all media.

• Establish best possible prices for tickets, accommodation, dining, transportation of athletes during their stay in the island of Tinos.

• Provision of tour guides for athletes

• Hospitality of the organizing team

• Provision of the established pre-race pasta party for race participants.

• Organization/Provision of medals, gifts

• Contribution of local authorities (Municipality of Tinos, Police Station of Tinos, Port Authority, Tinos Health Center, etc) for the proper and safe conduction of the races.

• Cultural events (i.e. folkloric nights) for the period of 13-15 of June
