Finance Ministry Offers Trespassers Property Buyout
Greece's Finance Ministry recently offered buyout terms, to trespassers on 28,000 national properties.
As reported by Kathimerini, a draft law has priced the land at a minimum objective value, concerning the area's location. The bill has a public consultation deadline of May 2nd, and includes farm properties as large as 10,000 square meters, with city properties as big as 5,000 square meters.
There are two vital elements regarding the mandates. The property must have been resided on for at least 20 consecutive years until December 31, 2013, and the application must be completed within one year of the bill's ratification.
To become the legal owner, encroachers are required to pay the purchasing fee in whole, or at least in 800 euro installments. Lump-sum sales will be offered a 5% discount. Each dweller is allowed to purchase more than one property, if the total surface area does not surpass 20,000 square meters.
