Farmers distribute free produce at toll booth
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Cretan farmers and agricultural producers distributed vegetables and fruit for free to motorists at the Afidnes toll booth on the Athens – Thessaloniki national highway. The farmers were reacting to the new bill on Open Air markets and selling from stalls.
The producers maintain that the articles of the new bill favor big interests and have been asking for a meeting with the prime minister Antonis Samaras and the government vice president Evangelos Venizelos, while they are also in touch with parties of the opposition.
Next Saturday, producers have programmed the distribution for foodstuffs on Salaminos Street at Perissos, at 10.30 am.
