Greek Registration System Plans Full Digitization
At the Conference on Trade Marks and Measures Against Counterfeiting, Deputy Development and Competitiveness Minister Gerasimos Giakoumatos confirmed that the digitization of the registration system will be fully executed, in the next one to two months.
This will greatly reduce businesses' costs and enhance Greek brands. Office for the Harmonisation of the Internal Market (OHIM) President Antonio Campinos, commented that Greece has to acquire a contemporary self-managed trademark office, for the advancement of both the nation and the international arena.
The President described, "Greece should be consistent in its decisions and legislation that it promotes. We have to be predictable. It will help the business community but consistency, coherence and predictability to the quality should be given jointly by the offices both on a national and a pan-European level", as reported by ANA-MPA.
Greece's Secretary General of Commerce Stefanos Komninos concluded with, "What concerns us is the appearance of fake trademarks in the EU, which may be a result of the crisis, but it is a threat and a challenge we should immediately deal with".
