Greece & China Confirm Strategic Ties
In yesterday's meeting on Rhodes, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed their strategic collaboration ties, according to media.
Xi Jinping stated: "The Chinese side will continue to support Greece on sovereign debt issues and efforts to promote economic recovery", as reported by ekathimerini.
The Chinese President added, "China is ready to share its development opportunities with Greece and further enhance the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership." Jinping referenced transportation, energy, eco-friendly efforts and maritime sectors, and his nation's private investments in Greek railroads and the port of Piraeus.
Samaras commented, "Greece welcomes Chinese companies to expand investment in Greece's port, railway, and airport, making the country a gateway to the EU market". This visit marks the second time Chinese leaders have visited Greece, since June.
