Golden Dawn leader Nikos Mihaloliakos was remanded to custody at 04.30 am today after a deposition that began at 19.00 the night before.
Prosecutors and inquisitors decided to jail the Golden Dawn leader, after also hearing the deposition of the "cell leader" of the local Nikaia organization Giorgos Patelis, who was also jailed pending trial.
Inquisitors focused especially on telephone calls made on the night Pavlos Fyssas was murdered and the following morning that showed there was a communications circuit among the perpetrator Giorgos Roupakias, Giorgos Patelis, and jailed mp Yannis Lagos through phones belonging to Nikos Mihaloliakos.
According to information from his attorneys, Nikos Mihaloliakos maintained that he had relinquished the specific connections to the party and could not know who made, or who answered the calls.
The Golden Dawn leader denied all the charges, spoke of political persecution, and stressed that he decried all forms of violence.
