Tom Hanks in Antiparos swim meet

American movie star and perennial Antiparos holiday maker, Tom Hanks gained the heart felt applause of onlookers after swimming the length between Paros and Antiparos.

For at least a decade, Antiparos is the permanent holiday home of the Hollywood star, who along with spouse Rita Wilson has built a home on the island.

The American star is considered part of the island, and as local media parianostypos.gr notes he wants to be part of as many of the local activities as possible, one of which was the swim across the channel separating the two islands that took place Sunday afternoon.

The 58 year old actor swam the 1450 meter course along with other intrepid swimmers and justly got the applause of his fellow islanders and tourists.
