Greek Ecologists Leader Arrested on Fraud
The Greek Ecologists party leader Dimosthenis Vergis was arrested today in the Athenian district of Exarchia, on charges of fraud.
The 73-year-old criminal has been charged for attempting to falsify documents claiming 452,000 square meters of public land, near Marathon Lake back in June, according to ANA-MPA. The Greek Ecologists party head will remain behind bars for 37.5 years.
Vergis' party supports the legalization of marijuana and nudism, while he has appeared naked in party campaign material. The Greek Ecologists scored 0.1% of votes in the EU elections, which totaled 5,583 votes. The party has not secured a Greek or European Parliamentary seat as of yet.
