Α possible Turkish government's decision turning Hagia Sophia into a mosque would signal a significantly important tension in the Greek-Turkish relations at the level of symbolism, stated Alternate Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis in an interview with SKAI TV earlier on Thursday.

State Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis on Saturday commented on Greek-Turkish relations underlining that Greece's root policy focuses on "no national retreat, absolute vigor in any challenge, but also dissolution of tensions," speaking on Thema 104,6 radio station. 

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras underlined the necessity for a "national line" on Greek-Turkish relations in an extensive interview with the newspaper "Vima" published on Sunday, while repeating that SYRIZA "will not do what [Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis] did to me, on national issues."
