Ferrovie Dello Stato Italiane S.p.A., the Italian railway, was the sole candidate to submit a binding offer for the sale of a 100 pct stake in TRAINOSE, the Greek trains operator, after completion of the binding offer procedure on Wednesday, Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) said in an announcement.

TRAINOSE's decision to route trains daily to Bulgaria, FYROM, and Serbia, is earning it points and is reinforcing the tourist current to northern Greek destinations and garnering extra income from Balkan neighbors wishing to travel to Athens.

Greece's Trainose national railway service halted strikes, that would have severely inconvenienced travelers' Easter plans.
